What Gets A Doctor Barred From Practice?
Category: In Your Face
North Dakota recently announced that three doctors have been barred from practicing medicine in that state. One had sex with a paitient; one habitually used alcohol; and one was involved in child pornography. Those are the sins that lose medical licenses in just about every state. Harming patients while continuously and notoriously practicing bad medicine usually merits, at best, mild consternation.

The state's medical watchdog panel has barred three doctors from practicing medicine in North Dakota.
The state Board of Medical Examiners on Friday revoked the licenses of Drs. Stephen Winegardner and Johnathan Wohler. The 11-member panel also permanently suspended the license of Dr. Mauro Agnelneri.
Board executive secretary Rolf Sletten said the group had evidence that Winegardner, who worked a clinic in Dickinson, N.D., had a sexual relationship with a patient between 2000 and 2002.
Wohler, 55, who also goes by John Kalikiano Kuapa'a, was kicked out of UND's postgraduate training program in Minot last year for "habitual use of alcohol," board documents said.
Agnelneri, 55, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of child pornography in Indiana last year, and received a one-year suspended prison sentence, Sletten said.
