My greedy heart goes out to Mark Everette who is a victim of a Christmas strike. Any union that would darken the holiday season for thousands of Markies should be sued for damages. Even though Mark is only 5 years old it has been his lifelong dream to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall in the Big Apple. Now, he and the other disappointed tap dance fans will have to spend the evening at a midtown deli with a hot pastrami. Shame on you, musicians!
NEW YORK — Musicians for Radio City Music Hall's famed Christmas Spectacular went on strike Wednesday, the day before the show was scheduled to open for the holiday season.
"It's a very sad day in New York," David Lennon, president of the American Federation of Musicians Local 802, said by telephone.
The labor strife has created uncertainty for the Christmas show, which has entertained families for seven decades. People pay up to $250 a ticket.
Mark Everette, 5, burst into tears when he found out he wouldn't get to see the show Wednesday night.
"We're going to go get something to eat and console him," said his mother, Denise Everette.
